“Eat That Frog”
Brian Tracy popularized the "Eat That Frog" concept in his book Eat That Frog! 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time. For Tracy, the phrase means that you should focus on tackling your most challenging, important task, the "frog", first thing in the morning before anything else.
He argues that often, we procrastinate on the things that are most crucial for our success. These are the tasks we put off because they're hard, time-consuming, or uncomfortable. By "eating the frog" first, you break the cycle of procrastination, build momentum, and set a positive tone for the rest of the day. Tracy’s overall point is that getting that tough task out of the way early frees up mental energy, reduces stress, and makes everything else seem more manageable.
Personally, the way I try to discipline myself and avoid procrastination is by keeping away from distractions such as my phone and social media. The things I try to do that benefit my life would be doing homework, studying, and working out. From time to time, I do get distracted, and I procrastinate, but the more I try and remember why I want to achieve my goals, the more motivated I feel. Procrastination is not a good thing, but it’s normal to go through it. It can get to the best of us.
Have you ever had a task that you kept putting off and then felt so relieved once it was done?
