Jan Koum is a Ukrainian-American entrepreneur and programmer. He is best known for co-founding and being the former CEO of WhatsApp, a popular messaging app that was acquired by Facebook in 2014 for 19 billion dollars. Born in Kiev, Ukraine, in 1976, Koum immigrated to the economic hardship, and he showed a strong interest in programming. He studied computer science at San Jose State University but dropped out. He worked as a security hacker and later as a security engineer at Yahoo. In 2009, he and Brian Acton, also a reformer on Yahoo employee, founded WhatsApp. Koum´s story shows how passion, talent, and hard work can lead to success. 


Brian Acton is an American entrepreneur and computer programmer best known for co-founding WhatsApp with Jan Koum. Born in Michigan in 1972, Acton graduated from Stanford with a computer science degree. He worked at Yahoo for several years, where he met Koum. In 2009, they founded WhatsApp based on simple, reliable messaging. It quickly became popular, and Facebook acquired it for $19 billion in 2014. Acton left Facebook in 2017. Since then, he focused on philanthropy and tech investment, including the Singel Foundation.
