RECYCLING LIFE
When discussing recycling in Mexico, it is evident that a lot has changed over time. Recycling hadn't been something that most people gave much thought to in the past. There weren't enough public awareness campaigns or locations for the disposal of goods like paper, glass, or plastic, and many homes didn't separate their garbage. People didn't always understand how their waste harmed the environment, and garbage was frequently only thrown together.
Today, things are slowly starting to change. Recycling has become more important as more people learn about the pollution, climate change, and the damage caused by plastic in our oceans and streets. Recycling bins are now seen in parks, schools, and even certain neighborhoods in large cities like Mexico City and Mérida. You can properly dispose of your batteries and plastic containers at certain shops. Campaigns on social media as well as in schools contribute in increasing awareness, particularly among young.
In my opinion, recycling in Mexico is improving, but we need more education, more support from the government, and more action from everyone — not just students or activists. Young people can make a big difference by setting the example at home and in school. It’s not just about sorting plastic; it’s about creating a culture that values the planet.
The fact is that recycling was usually ignored, however it is now a topic that more and more persons care about. It may take some time, but Mexico may gradually become cleaner, greener, and more aware of how tiny efforts, such as trash split, can contribute to a better tomorrow.
